Another example of the 83' rescue craft used by the Coast Guard to save wounded soldiers from invasion beaches in Europe and the Pacific theatres.

This is USS Spencer, a Treasury class Coast Guard cutter that saw extensive service during WWII.

The US Coast guard would provide over 225,000 men during WW2. Here, the USS Spencer is defending a convoy against German submarines by using depth charges to sink or keep them at bay.
