Welcome to the Edward Patterson Page

This perilous supply line, the Burma Road, was cut off by the Japanese in 1942 and forced the allies to fly supplies over the Himalaya’s to keep China in the war.

Before the US entered the war the All Volunteer Group (AVG), also know as the “Flying Tigers”, held the line. These US pilots for hire would be absorbed into the USAAF after war were declared and would provide much needed experience for an air force that was not yet battle tested.
